				|
 |
				| I'm trying to gauge interest for running WMA classes near-ish Courtney Place (Cambridge & Kent Terrace).
It's going to cost me a wee fortune, so I'd like to know what level of interest there would be.

One problem that I foresee is a lack of reliable parking. Would this be an issue?

I need your responses sooner rather than later too.

 Thanks,

				| Hello!
Interest: yes though depending on attendance cost probably only Oct onwards.

Parking: as it is central Wellington it would be quite easy to get reliable public transport, I reckon. Many people should be fine with that!

 Hope this helps

				| What would people willing to pay for a month's training?
This won't be like re-enactment training. It will be a permanently set up WMA gymnasium. I expect to make a loss, but there's a tolerance level to how much of a loss.

				| I was thinking of training in the CBD being $40/month.
It would be weeknights (Mon - Thurs). I might look at weekends, but unless there's demand, probably not.

As for the suggestions of hiring a hall for lessons. No. Part of my goal in WMA is to set up a permanent training facility. I gave up in Auckland, and am trying down here in Wellington instead. I'd be prepared to hire a hall as a short term solution, but definitely not as a long term one.

A permanent venue allows me to set up boxing/wrestling rings, boxing bags, pells, storage of wrestling mats, cut testing areas and various other training equipment. Hiring a hall means dragging all that equipment to and fro, which usually means training remains 'rinky-dink'.

				| Speaking as a martial arts gym owner and operator, $40 a month is ridicously cheap for such a facility in the Wellington CBD, even if you are offering just one class per week.
Most fitness orientated gyms in the Wellington CDB charge $100+ a month for membership and this is the basic membership. You only get basic benefits for this, e.g. no personal training, limited access (e.g. access at only non-peak times) etc.

What you are proposing to offer is far much more than the traditional fitness only gyms offer.

I know that WMA is your passion and probably like me you probably have no interest in making a personal profit from your effort. But you should be at least be expecting to break even from it.

I have practical business experience in this area so if you want any help or guidance let me know
