Knights Wanted!!

at taupo joust last year sir jezz put his armour and padding on the line against a longbow and some rather pathetic arrows.

however this year at taupo i am going to do it right!

to do it right i would like to know if there are any more knights who would put themselves in the way of a standard military arrow(fitted with a rubber blunt) of the period from a 100lb longbow and successive weights going up to 140lb (possibly)

its here in this forum because of the nature of the armour required for this 'Scientific Research'

a jousting harness is probably the best protection. that and it is similar to what the frenchies would have ridden in. if you have french armour from the hundred years war and are willing to be shot at

i think you might find a few veeeery happy archers infront of you with nervous trigger fingers

again this is all done in the name of Science...

side note dont think im going to be going right up to 140lbs i will stop at 120

Plan to up-grade parts of my jousting harness to early 15th C Italian next year - in spring steel. So more plate coverage.

So maybe next time...
