				| Order of the Boar WMA is hosting a WMA seminar at the Upper Hutt Martial Arts Academy (http://www.hapkido.org.nz/upperhutt.html) at 6PM on Tuesday 19th June to take advantage of Colin McKinstry's visit to Wellington next week.
Colin will be covering medieval German style unarmed combat and hopefully German longsword. As we focus on the Italian style a different perspective will be welcome.

Everybody who is interested is more than welcome. The session will start at 6 PM or as soon after as possible and will run until about 8 PM.

 The session cost is $10.

				| Last night's seminar was a success
10 people showed up which given the fact that we pulled this together at short notice and getting people to a mid-week event in the middle of winter is always a hard-ask

The class was a good representation of the local clubs, half Order of the Boar and the rest from CoD, MLHNZ and WMG.

Colin first took us through the fundamental principles of German wrestling and introduced us to some practical examples including a move that I hadn't seen before so I was happy

We then moved onto German longsword. As most of my own students are still working with 1.33/Fiore unarmed, they have not received tuition in period longsword techniques before and again Colin introduced the fundamental concepts of the German system along with some practical examples.

The material was well received and we are looking forward to exposure to more of the German style in the future. While I focus more on the Italian styles, its good to know your enemy
