This is a 'heads-up' that Helen is organising a Weekend of Archery to be held on 18 March - 20 March 2011 in Wellington. Further details will be posted in due course.

Helen would like an indication if people will be interested in coming to this event, and if you are keen to assist with holding workshops, clinics etc also if you can help with providing any targets (traditional and/or novelty) and/or other equipment. Medieval

Cheers

I am faily sure that some of the Sable Hart will be interested, but will put it out this weekend, and try and give you a better idea in the next week or so.

Just out of interest, will this be a camp and will crossbows be allowed. I am pretty certain that we will be able to bring some Archery gear with us.

Period-looking longbows, horse bows and cross-bows are all welcome. What won't be welcome are modern compound bows with all the bells and whistles on them (sights, weights etc).

What about modern bows with all those things removed! being that I am a poor poor bugger at the moment and have been given a good bow that I promptly removed all that off????

Everyone will be welcome - irrespective of ability and type of bow (just make sure that there are no sights, weights and other assists - arrow rests are OK though).

Most of us started out with some form of modern bow until we decided that we enjoy this sort of thing and could afford to get a traditional bow.

The whole idea of the weekend for us to all be able to get together, have fun and learn new things, which are all to do with archery.

The registration form will be posted soon - just sorting some final details.

Helen

As we are into the new year, time is going by very quickly!!

It is also time for a reminder to send in the registration forms for the Weekend of Archery to Helen. Please see our earlier post with the registration form, alternatively, please check out the website - http://www.darton.lochac.sca.org

The prices increase on 1 February 2011.

For those of you not familar with attending events run under the SCA rules, the additional charge of $2 for non-SCA members covers you under their insurance.

This event is also a costume / garbed event.

It is now just under 4 weeks until Registrations close.

We will be at Harcourt Park with Registration forms if you need one - Helen will be at the "Horse Shoe Tossing" stand most of the weekend if you have any questions for her.

Otherwise, please get your registration forms to us ASAP.

From the Registrations that are already in, the workshops and classes will be well attended, howver, we do not have any volunteers to run the classes and workshops. So if you have any particular skill in regard to making equipment, history on archey and/or teaching archery etc. please let us know - otherwise the weekend will only involve shooting at targets and socialising Razz

Hi Guys

I can try to organise a String Making, Arrow Making workshops etc, and maybe some bow shooting Lessons.

Will try and find out this weekend.

I am pretty sure that there will be at least 4 of us there, but I think there were a couple of others keen to come down. I will put in a registration for as many as possible.
