Another movie about Vikings in America: Severed Ways: The Norse Discovery of America. It looks pretty bad, but I felt the need to share.

Despite the good acting of New Zealander Karl Urban, 'Pathfinder' was REALLY bad. Howver, if you classify 'Faintheart' was a Viking movie, it was really good and very funny (thank you Stu).

Hey hang on a minute.

Outlander wasn't that bad.
Admittedly it may not have been hysterically accurate but...

It had a soso story line (hero on spaceship crash lands in 700ad Norway in a lake, he's the only survivor apart from an EVIL beasty called the MORWIN (He wiped out their planet so the morwin is gonna wipeout his) which then proceeds to rip up all and sundry across that part of Norway.

Kit was rather LOTR

Ron Perlman was ok (Spectacular beheading)

Party scenes were OK and the game of shields was something NAAMA could benefit from.

but then your view maybe completely different.

Cheers

I haven't seen it yet, only the trailer. I intend to have a look, which is more than I can reasonably say about Severed Ways. Very Happy

I didn't notice any Horned Helmets in either of those clips. "Pathfinder" was Hornarama! And John Hurt is a pretty good Actor ("Outlander") and was great as Caligula in "I,Claudius".

So I watched Outlander and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe because my expectations were so low, but the production values were good and not everything about the movie was predictable.

Neither are out on video/dvd as far as I know. I doubt Severed Ways will get a big screen release in NZ. Not sure about Outlander, it will probably turn up on DVD eventually.
