I'm still waiting for a definitive answer on Shark skin, but in the meantime, anyone tried this?
Grind up Cuttlefish bone, add a little bit of water to make a paste, use it as a polishing compound for horn/bone and stuff. It works, and looks good in living history displays.

BLOODY BRILLIANT! thank you, I am going to use that to polish my sax!
