I am trying to ignore that I was meant to be there.. anyway, let's revel in the pictures!

1st European Open Championship of horseback archers
September 6th - 7th 2008 in Bamberg, Germany

The first European Championship has been a great success. 54 competitors from 12 nations were fighting two days long for victory. Both Hungarian and Korean style were used. The competitors were from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Luxemburg, Poland, Sweden and Great Britain are expected, but also a group of horseback archers from Japan, South Korea and Mongolia!

Some really great pictures at http://www.mysteryofnature.com/steppenreiter/!

Just to let you know that next month's "Horse and Pony" (October) is featuring an article on both jousting and mounted archery. The mounted archery features Richard? in Nelson so it may generate some interest in this sport among the wider equestrian community here.

I was given the opportunity to proof read and comment on the jousting draft (which was well written) so I am optimistic that the artcile will cover both jousting and mounting archery in a very positive light.

I saw Emily's subscription copy last weekend and was impressed with both articles as well. The jousting article was unchanged from the original draft that I had the opportunity to review and comment on.

I was also able to get the dates for Harcourt Park and Taupo in there as well.
