Where's the email list?

Hi there,

If you've been looking around and asking where to find the email list part of the site, let me answer that question now.

This site, as it is, only provides the ability to watch a topic for replies. If you find a discussion thread and open it, you will see a link at the bottom of the page labeled 'Watch this topic for replies'. If you click this link, you will be emailed when a post is made to this topic.

What we are working to do is expand this feature to allow more powerful emailing of content to people. Ultimately you'll be able to select categories and forums to watch/subscribe to as well. By activating this feature the site will send you emails much like the SmartGroups list did. Each post in an area you're subscribed to will be posted on the site and sent to you via email. What it won't do is allow you to reply to the list via email. You will need to come to the site to do that. If there's enough people who want this ability we'll look at ways to do it.

The big advantage you'll get from this is that you will be able to select which areas of the site you're interested in and only recieve emails from those areas, and ignore the rest.

Hello GatheringDarkness member,

Many of you have been asking how to set up the email feature on www.gatheringdarkness.co.nz. This feature is now available.

To set up your email subscription, click on the link below or click the 'Your Profile' link at the top of the page. When you scroll to the bottom your profile page, you will see a list of all forums available to you. By ticking the boxes for the forums that interest you and clicking 'Submit' you will begin receiving all posts made to those forums via email.

You may update your profile at any time to change these preferences. You may also subscribe to a forum when you are viewing the list of topics within the forum - click the 'Receive forum posts by email' link at the bottom to subscribe.

At this time you cannot reply to these emails. If you wish to post a reply, please visit the website and post a reply via the website.
