For those interested in very early archery try this.

http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2008/03/31/earliest-weapon-human.html

60,000 BCE give or take. There is a lot of discussion in archaeology circles about the demise of the Neanderthal, I can't help wondering whether the fact that their arms were no good for archery had an effect.

Does anyone do Hominid re-enactment? Too early? You get to have fire, bows and shoes so it must have been reasonably bearable.

Is anyone familiar with American Reenactment? Do you know who the Tuchux are?

They act Barbarians loosely modelled after the Barbarians of Gor.

A group of my household one year dressed (or undressesd) to loincloths smeared with dirt, and went to heckle & throw mud at the Tuchux camp.

Yaaaaaah! Effete tool users!! Cooking utensils!! Boooo!!! Ppppppbbbbth... You sleep indoors you degenerate slobs!!! Gotta have a rooo-ooof!! Gotta have a rooo-ooof!!

We barely escaped with our lives. Scouting the darkness escape route through the woods turned out to be a good idea after all.

Hey Drakki

That was a cool article, went on to read some of the oter related articlkes as well.

As for the Tuchux looked them up as well, I do not think that they would be very welcome at the meetings here, take things a little to seriously.
