I really enjoyed using Darryl's crossbow at NAAMA. Do we have a source of crossbows that are legal for combat archery? Something that looks period would also be cool.

I'd even be interested in making something, though I assume the mechanism is the hardest bit to make.

Also came across this site while browsing the internet and throught the crossbows looked very nice.

I am starting to make a few hopefully done in time for Taupo. Will be the equivalent of a 30lb bow. I am taking orders now, but may have one or two available at taupo for sale.

What style? Foot stiryp? (sp?) goatsfoot? Bolt holder? you know that little piece of metal behind the release mechanisim. Could we see a design?

Dave Smith has made a couple... I'm going to look at getting one for my War of the Roses or Burgundian interpretation for next year... Twisted Evil
