Sadly some of the online translation software may not be up to the task

Er ist aus einzelnen Holzplanken aufgebaut, hat einen zentralen Griff, die sog. “Schildfessel” und einen eisernen Schildbuckel.

Google:

He is from individual wooden planks built, has a central handle, the so-called "shield Bondage" and an iron plate hump.

Babelfish:

It is composed of individual wood planks, has a central grasp, the so-called “sign chain” and an iron Schildbuckel.

I assume Schildbuckel refers to a boss!

Yepp, Babelfish is mostly correct on this one. Very impressive for an Internet tool!

“Schildfessel” being a technical term for the grip itself, not really easy to translate

And yes, Schildbuckel means boss.
