I've done a little more digging. Apparently 'Flavours of Byzantium' was published in 2003 by Dr Andrew Dalby, a prolific academic linguist and food scholar.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with Adamson's translation, but I am familiar with some of the errors in Atlas's (like translating chickpeas as [green] peas).
