Did anyone ever think we'd reach 459 registered users? Way cool.

When we get to 500 we really should have a drink together - all current and past admins. Perhaps we'll get there by NAAMA 2010.

Incidently, GD's 5th birthday is on 2 April this year.

Woohoo.

Has it been 5 years already 0.o

Seriously dude...the other thread was right. You, and the other admins, are to be commended!! This one website has helped the community grow more than any other individual or group has been able to do.

Well done folks. Smile

Yes Nigel, awesome that GD has 459 registered users. I will certainly raise a vessel to GD at Naama, with or without reaching 500 members. Either way, its a remarkable achievement! Top stuff Smile

Well, technically the site has been up for 5 years. It didn't become the official replacement for SmartGroups until around 1st December 2006. So I suppose you could say that it's only 3 and a bit years old.

Hmmm. Which is the better birthday? The day you were born or the day people realised you exist? Tricky.

Philosophy huh? IT/AI majors at Uni are forever asking about self awareness issues on this basis as well.

I'm sure there are a bunch of guys in China who have never heard of me, and wouldn't care if they did...so to me the thought of my existence awaiting their knowledge of my existence worries me. On this same thought, my father was in Vietnam when I was born and didn't find out about if for a month after......so I'll take actual birthday pls :p

Besides which, the "day people actually realise you exist" usually happens about 8 months before your actual birthday.

Twisted Evil

We had over 550 participants at Taupo. Given the market, caterers, gate and paying public who had blue tags, I estimate a minimum of 450 re-enactors and associates.

Not bad going.

Cool

Don't congratulate me! All I did was provide a venue. The NZ community made the numbers happen.

I do congratulate you thought Nigel. This site and the work that goes to make it is what keep us in touch, and growing.
