Hi Folks,

Just raising the bandwidth about the NZ sword symposium

www.nzsword.com

1st NZ Sword Symposium - featuring Guy Windsor, Paul Wagner, Richard Cullinan, Steven Hand, Callum Forbes, Colin McKinstry. Mike O'hara and some other international and local teachers.

Cost is $250 fully catered for the weekend if booked and paid before 14 September.

Bookings can be made via email to nzswordschool@gmail.com or via the booking page

Capped at 100 participants max - class preferences will go the people that book and pay first and then everyone else in order - we will look to make sure everyone gets a fair go at all the classes, but as they do have limits late entrants may not get their no 1 pick

We currently have about 140 hrs of teaching organized so you will not lack for things to learn.

We will have several combat arena set up for free bouting and any competition you may want to do (you will need to make arrangements with the event organiser and provide your own marshalls)

We are also proposing a "best of the best" tournament to be held Sunday afternoon. This will be held using the combat conventions set out by the SCA for cut and thrust combat as this is the best compromise for safety and cross group combat I can find (A link is at the bottom).

Those wanting to participate must be an authorised combatant in thier own group and will need to meet a minimum standard of armour and calibration/control (sorry FCMC/HMB guys you cannot go full out in this one)

Depending on the interest after the wrestling classes there may also be a period wrestling match or two saturday evening.
